芦北 / Ashikita

Ashikita is just north of Minamata. 芦北は水俣のすぐ北にありのます。

On Sunday, August 7th, we will go to the Ashikita Kaihin Koen.  8月7日に芦北海浜公園に行きます。Admission is free but there are fees for the rides.  入場は無料ですが、乗り物は有料です。The fees are listed on their "Menu" page. 料金は「メニュー」のページにあります。

Getting started

Today, I would like to do the following things. 今日は次のことを授業でしたいと思います。

The Anatomy of Dependence（『甘えの構造』）

長崎に行く皆さんへ

持ち物について少し説明します。I’ll write a few words about what to bring with you to Nagasaki.

1. 小さなタオル / a small towel

タオルがあればいいのは、小浜温泉の足湯（土曜の午後）とカトリックセンター（宿泊施設）です。 A towel will come in handy Saturday afternoon at the  ashiyu (foot bath) and at the Catholic Center (where we will spend the night).  宿泊料金が大変安くなっていますが、その分、タオル、歯ブラシなど、ホテルがよく無料で提供するようなものはありません。The Catholic Center is quite inexpensive and for that reason various amenities such as towel, free toothbrushes, etc. are not included.

2. 傘 / umbrella

残念ながら、雨が降りそうです。Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have some rain.  

3. スマホなど / Smart phones etc.

私は紙の資料を配りません。今までのメールなどを自分で確認できるようにしてください。I won’t be handing out papers tomorrow.  Please have all the information you need (e-mails from me, etc) with you. 

ちなみに、私の携帯電話番号は090-3665-8321です。緊急時にこの番号を利用してください。By the way, my phone number is 090-3665-8321.  Please call this number in an emergency.

4. 防寒具 / Something to keep you warm

稲佐山に登る人は寒く感じるでしょう。You may feel cold Saturday evening, particularly if you go up on Mt. Inasayama.

5. お金 / Money

6. 後は最小限 / Otherwise, as little as possible

日曜日は荷物を持って行動します。On Sunday, we will have to carry our stuff with us.  不必要な重いものなどを持ってこないようにしてください。Please avoid bringing unnecessary heavy items.

なお、くれぐれも、明日の朝、遅れずに来てください。Finally, please do not be late tomorrow.  8時か8時ちょっと過ぎにできる必要があります。We need to leave at 8 AM or a little after.  集合場所は正門近くのロータリーです。We will gave at the rotary near the main entrance to the university.

長崎では、路面電車や徒歩で移動します。In Nagasaki, we will move about using trolleys and on foot.  移動する際にこの地図は参考になると思います。This map should help you find your way around.

Cost / 費用

学生の費用は次のようになると思います（若干の変化はありえます）。Student costs should be as follows (a small change is possible).  共通の費用をバスで中で集めます。I'll collect the common expenses in the bus.

Saturday the 7th、7日（土曜日）

• Departure from rotary, near main entrance 正門近くのロータリーから出発 (8:00)
• Ferry フェリー (Arrive at Kumamoto Port at 8:45; 8:45に熊本港到着; arrive at Shimabara Port at 10:15; 10:15に島原港着)
• Michi no Eki Mizunashi Honjin 道の駅みずなし本陣 (10:30-10:50)
• Lunch at Harajo Onsen Masago 原城温泉真砂で昼食 (長崎県南島原市南有馬町丁133, 0957-85-3155 (11:30 - 12:00)
• Remains of Hara Castle 原城跡 (12:10 - 12:30)
• Arima Christian Heritage Museum 有馬キリシタン遺産記念館 (12:35 - 1:00)
• Ashiyu at Obama Onsen 小浜温泉の足湯 (1:40 - 2:00)
• Nagasaki Catholic Center Youth Hostel カトリックセンター長崎 (3:15) We will check in and leave our bags here. チェックインして、荷物を起きます。(095-846-4246)
• Oura Cathedral, Glover Garden 大浦天主堂・グラバー園（バスが熊本に戻る）

 You must return no later than 11:00 PM. どんなに遅くとも11:00までに戻らなければなりません。

Sunday the 8th、 8日（日曜日）

• Breakfast 朝食
 You can buy coffee for 100 yen but food will not be provided. Saturday evening you must buy something to eat in the morning. コーヒーは100円で飲めますが、食べ物はでません。前の日にパンなどを買っておいてください。
• Urakami Cathedral / 浦上天主堂 (Early risers may attend mass until checkout at about 9:30; 早く起きる人は9:00ごろのチェックアウトの時間までミサに参加できます。)
• Peace Park / 平和公園 (We will walk there.  徒歩で行きます。We will meet Mr. Hayasaki, a hibakusha, along the way.  途中で被爆者である早崎猪之助様と一緒になります。)
• Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum 長崎原爆資料館 (We will walk there and remain until about 10:45 or.  徒歩で行き、10:45ごろまでいます。)
• To the trolley to Dejima and/or China Town.  路面電車で出島および中華街に移動。
• Return bus 帰りのバス (3:00発、湊公園から; Leave at 3:00 from Minato Park;  Minato Park is at the end of China Town that is farthest from Urakami, where we stayed)
• Trip ends at Gakuendai 学園大で解散 (18:00)
