Apologies / 謝罪

Last week the topic of apologies came up.  先週、謝罪が話題になりました。Some of the students from English-speaking countries said they would not apologize if they were not in the wrong.  英語圏からの学生の中には、自分に非がなければ謝らないと言っていた学生がいました。Perhaps it would be worthwhile (and fun) to do a little role playing on this topic.  このテーマで多少のロールプレーをすると勉強にもなり、楽しいだろうと思います。Here are some topics we might use for role play.  次のような状況を演じるといいかも知れません。

• An automobile accident when both cars are at fault (and both drivers know it).  車の事故の直後で、両者の非がある（しかも両者ともそのことを認識している）。
• A customer returns a defective product to the service department of a store.  店で買った欠陥商品を返品する場面。
• You boss is yelling at you for something that is not your fault (e.g. somebody else damaged the copying machine).  （コピー機が壊れたことが）自分のせいじゃないのに、上司そのことで自分を怒鳴っている。
