Expenses / 費用

Though I am late, I have finally finished calculating our trip expenses. 遅くなりましたが、やっと旅行の経費等を計算することができました。英語ですが、次のとおりです。

Unfortunately, the expenses are slightly higher than last year and the money from the Faculty of Economics is less. 残念ながら、去年より費用が少し上がり、経済学部からの援助金が少し少なくなりました。Still, I think this is a pretty good deal. しかし、これでも「格安」と言っていいだろうと思います。

The Anatomy of Dependence(『甘えの構造』)

In recent classes, we have been discussing gender. 最近のゼミでジェンダーについて話しています。 In today's class, I'd like to introduce the concept of amae because I think it will help us talk about gender issues in Japan. 今日は、「甘え」という概念を紹介したいと思います。日本におけるジェンダーについて議論する際に、この概念を 訳に立つだろうと考えています。 Today, I will ask you to perform some skits that illustrate amae.  今日は、「甘え」が見えるくるような寸劇を演じてもらいます。It is not necessary to understand amae in order to perform the skits. 寸劇を演じるために「甘え」を理解する必要はありません。The skits should help you understand it.  寸劇を通してその意味が見えてくると思います。After class, however, reading the introduction to Takeo Doi's book about the concept, should help you deepend your understanding.  授業の後に、土居健郎氏の本の最初の部分を読んでもらえれば、理解が深まるだろうと思います。

Trip to Nagasaki

I am planning to take a group of students to Nagasaki on the 22nd and 23rd of November (Saturday and Sunday). 11月の22日と23日(土日)に学生を長崎へ連れていくことを計画しています。

I'm not completely sure how much money I will need to collect from each participant but these notes from last year should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.  学生から集めないといけない料金についてはまだはっきりとわかりませんが、去年の次のメモを見てもらえれば、どの程度のお金を用意することになるかについてはだいたいわかってもらえると思います。

むすし、むかし・・・

Today, as a warm-up activity, I'd like you to make up a short "once-upon-a-time" story in each of your groups. 今日、本題に入る前に、"むかし、むかし"の話を作ることをグループの仲間と楽しんでみてほしいと思う。

First, choose a member or your group to begin the story. まず、話を始める人を決めてください。You can choose any way you like, but perhaps "jan ken" is a good method. 好きなように決めるといいと思う。じゃんけんも決め方の一つだろう。 The person who goes first makes up a sentence that begins "むかし、むかし" (once upon a time). 最初の人は「むかし、むかし」で始まる文を作ります。The sentence should be written down, in simple Japanese, on a piece of paper. 簡単な日本語で文を紙に書いてください。Make sure that everyone in your group understands the meaning of the Japanese sentence. グループの全メンバーが文の意味を理解していることを確認しながら進めてください。If the Japanese that a foreign student suggests sound unnatural as Japanese, other members should suggest ways to improve it. 留学生が使った日本語の文が日本語として不自然な場合には、他のメンバーはより自然な言い回しを教えてあげると良い。

Then, going around in clockwise order, the next person adds another sentence in Japanese in the same way. 次の人(順番は時計回り) が同じ要領でもう一つの文を加える。Continue until 15 minutes have passed.  制限時間の15分までに続けてください。

At the end of this 15-minute activity, one representative of each group will read the story that you made together.  この15分間のアクティビティが終わった後に、グルーブの代表の一人に読んでもらいます。
